Noi Bai airport (IATA: HAN; ICAO: VVNB), named Noibai International Airport, is the second busiest airport in Vietnam after Tan Son Nhat International Airport. It is the main airport serving Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
The airport is currently the main hub of the flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, and budget carriers Bamboo Airways, Jetstar Pacific and Vietjet Air.
The airport is located in Phu Minh Commune in Soc Sơn District, about 35 kilometres northeast of downtown Hanoi, via the new Nhật Tân Bridge.
It can also be reached by National Road 3, which connects it with the eastern suburbs of Hanoi. The airport is also close to some satellite cities of Hanoi such as Vinh Yen, Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyên…
Noi Bai International Airport consists of two passenger Terminals: T1 (domestic terminal) and T2 (international terminal). The distance between terminal T1 and T2 is about 850 meters. Both terminals are connected through a free shuttle bus that runs every 10 to 15 minutes from 06:00 am to midnight.
Terminal T1 – Domestic terminal
This is where Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar and Bamboo airways are located. It service for domestic routes from Hanoi to Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh…First floor is for arrival domestic passengers and second floor is for check in counter and departure domestic passengers.
Terminal T2 – International terminal
This is the Hub of many international airlines that operate out of Noi Bai international airport. Some of which include Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, AirAsia, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, Lao Airlines, and Tiger Airways… ..First floor is for arrival international passengers, second floor is for Immigration counter where arrival passengers do passport clerance for entry, and third floor is for check in counter and departure international passengers.
Business lounges
Business lounges are available with Vietnam Airlines Business Class Lounge for its own passengers and Song Hong Business Lounge and Noi Bai International Business lounge for passengers on other airliners.

Airport sleeper pods
Locations: Terminal 1, Airside, 3rd Floor (3 single and 11 twin pods) and Terminal 2, Airside, 2nd Floor (2 single and 12 twin pods). Each pod is 4 sq. meters and 3 meters high with amenities such as bed, wardrobe, bedding, WIFI, alarm clock, tv, work desk, privacy curtain, and travel guide. Snack and drink is included. Terminal 1: 135,000 – 140,000 VND/hour for a single room and 155,000 – 160,000 VND/hour for a twin room.
Terminal 2: 145,000 – 150,000 VND/hour for a single room and 165,000 – 170,000 VND/hour for a twin room.
VIP A lounge
VIP A lounge was opened from January 2015, at which is the same time of passenger terminal T2. It is necessary as a part of diplomatic protocol to construct a large and modern executive building at the gateway of capital, in order to receive high-rank delegations of Vietnam as well as other countries. The executive building also provides services as a greeting place to organizations and international businesses on demand.
VIP A lounge shares the border with Passenger Terminal – T2 in the west, Passenger Terminal – T2 in the east, Apron in the north, and the airport main axis in the south. The executive building is isolated by a surrounding fence for security and separation. Reception Hall, State Lounge and President’s Lounge is formally arranged at the center of executive building. Other rooms, for the entourage and management, are located round the main ones and apart from the center area.
Transport to and from Hanoi center
It takes 45 – 75 minutes to move from the Noi Bai airport to the Hanoi center depending on which vehicle you will choose (taxi, mini bus, public bus, or private car) and how heavy the traffic is.
- Public bus
You must walk to the bus station located 200 meters away from the airport gate.
Buses run every 15 to 20 minutes from 05:00 am to 10:00 pm. Those bus are always full of people, you might have to stand for an hour during the trip. Please refer to for best bus route.
There are four buses that have routes from Noi Bai airport to the center of Hanoi: bus number 07, 17, 90, and 86. This is the cheapest transportation option on the list. It costs only 9,000 VND per pax (0.40 cents). Bus 86 is an exception since its price is 30,000 VND/pax (1.5 USD). If you do not know which bus you should take and when to get off, just contact the staff at airport information, show them your address, and they will help you find the right bus. Most of the buses are not allowed to go inside the airport, you must walk to the bus station located 200 meters away from the airport gate. - Airport bus:
This bus has 45 seat and runs by separate airlines. Right now, there are shuttle bus of Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar and VietjetAir.

However, you may have to wait until the bus is full before it departs and don’t forget you have to take it at the domestic terminal. - Taxi

At Hanoi Airport there 14 taxi companies allowed to work in their facilites. Some have metered taxis and others not, so we recommend to always check with the driver the final price.
